what are some basic things to know when watching a soccer game so i have an understanding of whats going on? I am going to watch a friend's game and i know the no hands and goalie and the basic object of the game are there other things i should be aware of?

Hi Olivia-

depending on the age of your friend. There are some other simple rules you might want to know about.

They include:

Goalie can't use hands if the ball was intentionally passed back by teammate.

No slide tackling from behind player.


Other more complicated rules include:

offside rules, and direct and indirect kick ...You don't need to know them to enjoy the sport. It is quite simple and a blast to watch. Enjoy and hope you check out the basic rules page for more info.
